Spring 2016 Uncork Mount Etna

Experience the Volcano Through its Wine, Food, and Culture: A tour for enthusiasts, fun loving curious travelers, and those interested in unique experiences.

Immerse yourself in this experience for the senses and let me tell you a story about Sicily, a place that is both fascinatingly otherworldly and vibrantly alive and relevant. From the vantage point of Mount Etna, we will experience the great mosaic of Sicily's history and its people. Here, on the ancient volcano, is where everything began, inspiring myth and legend, and where wine and food have always been protagonists.

“No poem was ever written about water.” - Horace

We will hear the stories, and learn about the evolution and revolution, as it is reflected in every glass of wine we taste, paired together with the region’s exceptional food. You will be embraced by Etna's generosity and enchanted by winemakers who, with deep passion and heart, lend personal expression to their wines. Surrounded by breathtaking panoramas, you will taste how nature, history, and passion converge into these unique, delicious, and increasingly popular wines, and how this enviably fertile volcano gives us so many exceptional things to eat.

Sicily is an idea. This island, the largest, most strategically placed island in the Mediterranean, fertile and achingly beautiful, attracted more than a dozen conquering peoples over the millennia. They each brought their own ideas, from agriculture to urban planning, and left their mark, like waves crashing on the shores. In agriculture and food, architecture and art, festivals and traditions, in the language itself, Sicily is the ultimate melting-pot, full of fascinating contrasts. On this tour we will enjoy diverse and interesting wine experiences with people who have been on the volcano for generations and others who are recent arrivals. We will partake in one-of-a-kind meals, and visit historical sights from every step of the historical way.

I invite you to come see, taste, and experience for yourself.

“There is more philosophy in a bottle of wine than in all the books in the world.” - Ernest Hemingway
